K9HQ has an application that is one part of the process in bringing your dog to daycare. Please read the FAQ and Requirements pages in full before you apply. The application (see below) can be printed from our site, completed and brought to the Evaluation & Interview (E&I) session (see Interview below).
The application will give us important information such as: How do we reach you? Who can we contact if you are not available? Who is your dog’s veterinarian? Most important, who is your dog? Only you know best. Here we ask information about your dog’s nutrition, training, and behaviour. This we find works well giving us a true insight into your dog, their likes and dislikes. With your application & our evaluation, your dog’s Care Givers will be better informed to interact with your dog.
Dog Evaluation
All dogs must go through an evaluation (see Interview below) prior to coming to K9HQ. This is our best way to ensure we have highly social dogs enjoying themselves at K9HQ. In addition, when your dog comes for the first daycare day it won’t be the first time. They will have been here before and know the following: No one here has taken their temperature, they met a dog or two, and got to play with toys, and then went home with you. This makes the first visit as stress free as possible.
The evaluation consists of how your dog responds in various situations with:
Toys – on their own, with dogs, with people
People – introductions, play, manners, respect, responsiveness
Dogs – introductions, play
Crate – are they crate trained, are they comfortable or anxious
~ For some dogs, we may require any or all of the following:
minimum attendance commitment
maximum age to start daycare
proof of continuing education programs (dog training classes)
training aids
The above will be for the benefit of the dog. As an example, shy dogs come more frequently till they make friends & start to come out of their shell. Then the frequency can lessen. Age is a consideration. If a dog has had no socialization prior to adulthood, we may not accept them.
Each dog's evaluation continues over the first several visits. Bear in mind that not all dogs are accepted for daycare. This doesn't mean that you don't have a good dog, but that your dog may not be suited for the daycare environment.Back to Top
Interview
Each Saturday at 9:30am, we host the Evaluation & Interview session (long weekends excluded). The E&I sessions are by reservation only and take approximately 1 hour. Due to time constraints, only four dogs are evaluated each week. Book early to reserve your spot.
While your dog is being evaluated for daycare suitability, it gives you an opportunity to meet us and tour the facility. During this time we also go over safety protocols, rates, reservation procedures and of course answer any questions you may have.
If, after the E & I session your dog does well in the evaluation and you find our facility and services acceptable we would be pleased to invite your dog to spend the day with us.Back to Top
The following can be printed and taken to your Veterinarian to ensure your dog is adequately vaccinated.
All dogs must be up to date on their vaccinations. Please discus with your veterinarian what the best vaccination schedule should be for your dog considering they will be visiting doggy daycare.
VaccineCertificatesor Titre Certificates(dogs 2 years +)must be provided prior to first visit.
.
Vaccinations are required for:
The following four viruses are commonly abbreviated DHPP
Canine Distemper virus
Hepatitis (Canine Adenovirus)
Parainfluenza
Canine Parvovirus
Bordetella (Canine Cough)
Rabies
NOTES:
Be aware that vaccinating with just the commercial Kennel Cough vaccine alone (contains only the Bordetella agent) may not be fully protective because of the other infectious agents that are involved with producing the disease. Some of the other agents such as Parainfluenza and Adenovirus are part of the routine vaccinations generally given to dogs. The intra-nasal Bordetella vaccine may produce immunity slightly faster than the injectable vaccine.
Any vaccine takes days to weeks to stimulate the dog's protective immunity to the disease. Vaccinating a dog the day it is exposed to disease may not be protective. If you plan to protect your dog from exposure, remember to vaccinate a few weeks prior to potential exposure to allow full protective immunity to build up.
Veterinarian protocols for vaccination schedules can vary dependant on the breed type, age, and health of your dog. With this in mind, please consult your veterinarian regarding the proper vaccinations & schedule for your dog considering they are/will be attending doggy daycare, and be sure they are kept current..

All dogs are required to be on an effective external parasite (fleas) preventative control program - Either monthly or seasonally (May1st -Oct31st). Some preventives are best for controlling the overall populations of fleas by inhibiting reproduction but not the bite. Others kill the parasite on contact with the dog’s skin. K9HQ prefers the latter as some dogs develop allergic reactions to the fleabite. Given our climate an internal parasite preventative program is also suggested.
Preferred preventatives are either or:
Revolution
Advantage Multi
Both of the above products prevent both external and internal parasites. It is suggested that you discuss with your veterinarian which product is the most suitable for your dog considering he/she would be attending doggy daycare.
Our high standards are for the protection of your pet. Let's keep them parasite free and healthy.
