Our Beginner Classes have been designed with you in mind. Whether you have a puppy or a newly adopted dog. This is the foundation level to K9HQ's building blocks training classes where you & your dog are a Team.
Our approach uses non-physical, motivational based techniques that encourage dogs to think and problem-solve. Toys &/or Treats are used making you the centre of your dog's universe. Brain games help your dog to think.
Confidence comes from skills, skills comes from training. Learn how to teach your dog to be the best he can.
Learn how to get your dog's atttention then add in some manners. Sit, down, come, and walking on a loose leash are on the agenda.
Now that you have the foundations it's time to further develop your skills. We teach you to how to motivate your dog. Learn how to play again building your dog's confidence.
More brain work through obedience and adding some tricks. From here you can go into sports, therapy, and of course more obedience. Rehearsal of what you want is the key to success.
Ok, we get it. You got a dog, but life is so busy & now you have some challenges. You want to learn, but the classroom isn't for you or you are too busy for week after week. This may be what you are looking for. As a group on a drop-in basis we do a pack walk to a local park. On the way we help you address any of your leash issues. Once at the park we will help you get your dog off leash in a controlled fashion. There is no set curriculum, we are training you to train your dog on the go. There are two instructors to assist. Let's just get it done so you can finally enjoy a walk in the park.
Each module is restricted to a maximum of eight students to ensure plenty of one on one time with the instructor.
This is the LEASH class that WORKS! Your dog will learn about self restraint, space, and pressure. What's that? This is teaching your dog in short intervals and then allowing them time to process the information. Teaching them where your space is. It's time to use the eye contact that we learned about in K9 Preschool, and the touch that we learned about in K9 Elementary . Then we add pressure so you end up with a dog that walks beside you watching your every move. It's time to enjoy your walks! Your dog learns to wait, watch, and manage his time.
Have you ever been embarassed by your dog jumping on someone? Could your dog injure someone with their exhuberant greetings?
Learn the tricks to teaching your dog not to jump on you or other people.
Each class is restricted to a maximum of eight students to ensure plenty of one on one time with the instructor. We start with the one on one format and build to a group with distractions.
Learn how to get your dog to COME to you, and lay DOWN or SIT & STAY until you tell them to do something else. A big plus is calling your dog & they respond by coming back to you - WOW, you've got it made!

This class has been designed for people with reactive dogs. Your dog may display signs of aggression towards other dogs - barking and lunging. This may be on or off leash, behind barriers (fences - in the car).
In fact this may be an over reactive dog - over reacting to situations because of excess stimulation or a multitude of reasons. No matter why, let's just fix it and get control of the situation. We will go over various tools and training techniques then apply the methods best suited for you and your dog. It's the start of a better adjusted dog.
This workshop will focus on over reaction towards dogs NOT people.
This is a complimentary (no charge) one hour information session held each spring.
Designed to inform you about the sport of Agility. You will learn the history of Agility, health requirements, equipment needed, and what you can expect of the sport & our training sessions.
Generally this is not a sport where you can take a couple of lessons and have your dog run all over the equipment. It requires a great deal of handler training. Dogs catch on very quick if we give them the right cues. We teach you how to give the right information to the dogs so they can traverse the course quickly and safely.
Our training is ongoing - Start in the spring and go through till the fall. From there you can join a club (our training gives you the prerequisite training to join) and carry on through the winter months.
CLICKER & TUGGY Workshop
This is a one hour workshop held each spring.
Prior to the K9FUN course we are holding a one hour workshop to teach you the basics of the CLICKER Training System plus how to develop a highly rewarding Tug. For agility you need to mark the behaviour plus reward that behaviour. This workshop will give you those tools.
